Stübben safety vest regular
This is the Stübben Safety Vest "normal".
The body protector serves as shock protection, has been developed for the area of riders and people who work with horses and offers a large protective surface. According to current technology, this safety vest offers optimal protection against the consequences of an accident, significantly reduces the risk of injuries, while such injuries cannot be prevented. The certified body protector absorbs to a certain extent the energy of the impact in a crash and thus reduces the risk of injury. The body protector does not prevent accidents, and in case of crashes there is no 100% guarantee to prevent fractures and sprains, as well as any abrasions and others. Always remember that no part of PPE can provide complete protection and caution should always be exercised when performing the risk-related activity.
Injuries cannot be completely prevented by this body protector, but should be reduced in severity. Injuries are not prevented in accidents involving severe torsion, flexion, extension or entrapment of the body. Spinal injuries cannot be completely prevented by wearing PPE.
The manufacturer proposes to use this safety vest with other certified PPE intended to protect other parts of the body and suitable sportswear, e.g. a helmet.
EU TYPE CERTIFICATION
This product is classified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by the Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and has been shown to comply with this regulation through the harmonized European standard EN 13158:2018 – level 3 (purple label).
Level 3 passed the toughest impact test possible. There are three levels of protection. The reason for this is that Regulation (EU) 2016/425 obliges manufacturers to make body protectors suitable for different activities and users. No Body Protector can prevent serious injury in certain accidents.
Level 1/Black Label: Safety vests that provide a lower level of protection considered appropriate only for licensed jockeys.
Level 2/Brown Label: Safety vests that provide a lower than normal level of protection considered suitable for use only in low risk situations. These DO NOT include riding on roads or other hard surfaces, riding over jumps, riding young or excited horses, or riding while inexperienced.
Level 3/Purple Label: Safety vests that provide a level of protection considered appropriate for normal riding, competition and working with horses.
Bodyguards at this level should:
- Prevent small bruises that would have caused stiffness and pain
- Reduce significant soft tissue injuries to the level of bruising
- Prevent a limited number of rib fractures.
- Reduce the impact on the spine.
The determination of the level of performance according to EN 13158:2018 is done as follows: a flat impactor and a narrow bar impactor are dropped on top of the lying protector (impact energy 35 J for flat impactor and impact energy 45 J for narrow beam impactor) on a anvil with an integrated system to measure the energy remaining under the protector. This procedure simulates the dangers of falling to the ground, being hit by a hoof or hitting a narrow post. When a residual energy of max. 4kN is given, the back protector reaches level 3.
No value should exceed 6kN. The back protector has reached performance level 3.
Please note: the EN 13158:2018 offers 3 performance levels: level 3 offers the highest performance!

The fit is acceptable if it is not uncomfortably tight or too loose and if the body protector does not restrict your freedom of movement in the riding position. The body protector is designed to cover the entire circumference of the torso and rib cage. The top of the body protector should reach the level of the seventh cervical vertebra (the prominent bone at the base of the neck). Choose your individual body protector size based on the following size chart, on the basis of which the body protector has passed the EC type examination: The width adjustability of this safety vest is integrated, which means that the vest automatically adapts to the chest and waist circumference of the user. to a limited extent according to standard EN13158:2018. Before buying it, the body protector must be applied to check the fit.
The protector is inserted into a precisely positioned protector pocket to adjust a perfect position. To take full advantage of the protection offered by this body protector, make sure the garment fit meets the following criteria:
- no discomfort is caused by the garment when you are in your usual riding position and your freedom of movement is not restricted
- the impact protector is placed over the areas they are supposed to protect.
Users should ensure that all mounting and closing devices are securely fastened before riding a bike and that the impact protectors fit close to the body, but not too tight.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT
Always store your body protector on a hanger or in a flat lying position in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, away from direct heat sources and extreme temperatures. Do not place heavy objects on the garment, either during storage or transportation, as this may damage the close-cell foam protector. Transport the safety vest on a hanger.
The foam in your body protector is a thermo-elastic foam made of special chemical components. It is sensitive to extreme temperature changes. The function of the body protector is reduced by about 10% at a temperature of 30°. Do not leave it on the floor or under heavy objects as this may cause the protector to become deformed, torn or damaged in any way.
The material properties of the protector vest allow cleaning by hand up to 5 cycles (at 30°C, apply a mild detergent to the water, do not spin and tumble dry). In the long run, the manufacturer recommends using a damp cloth to remove any dirt on the protector. Do not dry clean. Do not use solvents or other chemicals.
If the vest shows damage after an accident in the area of the protector, the condition of the protector must be checked. The foam layers of the protector perfectly absorb the impact energy, but each blow reduces the function of the protector and can cause damage to the protection system. That is why we recommend that you do a replacement after every major crash to have an optimal shock absorption function in the future. This body protector is equipped with removable protective parts. A damaged protective part no longer provides a reliable function. The manufacturer recommends replacing the protection parts with new ones in case of damage and compression. We would like to point out that the most effective reduction in crash risk is careful driving and conscious risk assessment. No body protector can prevent injuries and guarantee complete protection. We would like to specifically point out that the extreme change in weather and temperature conditions, the use of solvents or a manual change can affect the protective function of the body protector. Any modification or contamination of the body protector, as well as misuse, can dangerously reduce its performance. We hereby declare that the product does not contain any substances that could be harmful to your health. For additional information, please contact the manufacturer.
